On Tuesday, February 13, the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee is scheduled to consider multiple gun bills, and committee members need to hear from you immediately. Please contact members of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee about the below listed gun bills:
Senate Bill 448, sponsored by state Senator Brian Feldman, treats antique firearms as modern firearms for the purposes of persons prohibited from ownership of firearms. This legislation goes beyond federal law in the prohibition of firearm ownership.
Senate Bill 472, sponsored by state Senator Michael Hough, alters the time period in which a permit to wear, carry, or transport a handgun to expire 5 years after its issuance or renewal.
Senate Bill 497, sponsored by state Senator Justin Ready, requires the issuance of a wear and carry permit to the petitioner for a protective order who is qualified to carry a firearm for self-defense.
Senate Bill 604, sponsored by state Senator George Edwards, requires firearms that have been seized or forfeited and unable to be returned to be sold to a licensed firearms dealer.
Again, please contact members of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee and urge them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 448, and to SUPPORT Senate Bill 472, 497, and 604.
