Last Friday, May 19, the Alabama Legislature adjourned sine die. During this session, Senate Bill 24, the constitutional/permitless carry bill, passed the Senate but failed to make it to the House floor for a vote due to Chairman Allen Treadaway’s efforts to kill the bill.
Chairman Treadaway blatantly ignored the wishes of his constituents and law-abiding gun owners across Alabama by working to kill SB 24 and its companion bill, House Bill 414. By assigning the bills to subcommittee, he made sure neither bill saw consideration on the House floor! Additionally, Senate Bill 330, which would allow a Sheriff to issue or renew a pistol permit to or for a person residing in any county in the state, failed to make it to the Senate floor for a vote.
