Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee recommended do-pass to House Bill 1169 by a 4-2 vote. HB 1169 could go to the Senate floor as early as tomorrow. Please contact your state Senator and politely urge them to SUPPORT HB 1169!
Introduced by state Representative Rick Becker (R-7), HB 1169 would eliminate the requirement to obtain a permit in order to lawfully carry. HB 1169 will make the current permitting system optional to allow citizens to obtain permits and take advantage of reciprocity agreements with other states.
This bill recognizes a law-abiding adult’s Right to Keep and Bear Arms for self-defense in the manner he or she chooses. Self-defense situations are difficult, if not impossible, to anticipate. Accordingly, a law-abiding adult’s right to defend himself or herself in such situations should not be conditioned by government-mandated time delays and taxes.
