On Thursday, House Bill 137 advanced in the Wyoming Senate and is scheduled for second reading today. Unfortunately, campus carry legislation, House Bill 136, did not receive the required votes to pass and was defeated.
House Bill 136 sought to amend the existing statute to allow a person lawfully carrying with a Wyoming state permit to carry a concealed weapon on any public college or university campus or within any public college or university facility, without having to have the written consent of the security service of the public college or university.
As amended, House Bill 137 would allow an individual with a valid concealed carry permit to lawfully carry a concealed weapon in any meeting of a government entity, including the state Legislature.
Please continue to contact your state Senator and strongly urge them to SUPPORT House Bill 137 with no amendments when it comes up for a vote.
