On Tuesday, April 19, the Maricopa City Council will consider Ordinance 16-03. This ordinance seeks to revise current Maricopa city codes and repeal existing restrictions which prohibit valid concealed carry weapons permit holders from carrying in public buildings or facilities in the City of Maricopa. If an individual can lawfully own and possess a firearm, they should not be prohibited from exercising their fundamental right to self-defense outside of their home or in public buildings. Please consider attending the council meeting to voice your support for this proposal. Meeting details can be found below.
This proposal is similar to Senate Bill 1257, a bill which is currently pending in the Arizona Legislature. SB 1257 seeks to expand the list of places where law-abiding gun owners can carry to include some additional public areas where certain security measures are not in place.
Once again, please consider attending the council meeting to voice your support for this proposal.
