House Bill 1002 has been Special Ordered to the floor for consideration by the Maryland House of Delegates and could be heard as early as tomorrow, March 10. This anti-self-defense legislation would prohibit the carrying or possessing of firearms on the property of public institutions of higher education.
Those who are allowed to lawfully carry a firearm do not present a threat to public safety, as they are one of the most law-abiding segments of the population. These individuals should not be prevented from exercising their right to self-defense simply because they choose to seek a college education.
It is important that you contact your Delegate and respectfully urge him or her to oppose House Bill 1002 when it comes up for a vote.
