The California Fish and Game Commission is continuing to explore ways to implement the statewide lead ammunition ban. In 2013, the California Legislature passed Assembly Bill 711 to ban the use of traditional ammunition for all hunting in California.
The Commission is required to adopt regulations to ban lead ammunition in the state no later than July 1, 2015, with full implementation of the ban to occur no later than July 1, 2019.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) will hold a public workshop TOMORROW, June 3 to discuss the implementation of the lead ammunition ban. The workshop will be held at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center located at 921 Waterfront Drive in Eureka from 7:00-8:30 p.m. We encourage all hunters and recreational shooters to attend this meeting to express your concerns about the proposed options that will be discussed there, before the regulations are drafted.
