Two important Right-to-Carry reform bills, House Bill 132 and House Bill 2184, are expected to be heard as early as Tuesday, May 22. HB 132 is pending in the Finance, Ways & Means Committee, and HB 2184 will be heard in the House Committee on Calendar and Rules.
House Bill 132, sponsored by State Representative Mike Bell (R-23), would allow a person with a handgun carry permit to possess a firearm in all public hunting areas, refuges, wildlife management areas, and national forests managed by the state. House Bill 2184, sponsored by State Representative Frank Niceley (R-17), would allow any resident who has a valid handgun carry permit to possess his or her handgun while within the boundaries of any state park. HB 2184 was amended to include all areas for recreational purposes.
