The Humane Society of the U.S. is trying to block plans to allow hunting on the Great Meadows and Assabet River national wildlife refuges in Massachusetts. The HSUS, which opposes all hunting on wildlife refuges, says plans to expand refuge hunting in Massachusetts and nine other states violate federal law because the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has not completed environmental impact statements. Professional wildlife managers and scientists disagree.
