On June 2nd, Governor Josh Green signed Senate Bill 1230 into law. This anti-gun bill purports to make changes in response to the Bruen decision; however, it does little more than show Hawaii’s disdain for the Second Amendment and for the ability of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves. It massively expands “gun-free zones” and creates a complicated patchwork of where people can lawfully carry. Further, it creates a permitting system with subjective factors that are ripe for abuse.
