This week, the House will hear House Bill 1358, constitutional carry, on the floor. Please contact your state representative and ask them to SUPPORT HB 1358.
Currently, there are groups spreading false claims that HB 1358 somehow guts constitutional carry. HB 1358 is in-line with the type of constitutional carry in place around the country in many states. It does not change who is eligible to carry, where they may carry, or what they can carry. Georgia, like many states, has long had different standards on who may carry a firearm versus who may possess one. HB 1358 makes no changes to that.
What HB 1358 does do, is allow a law-abiding adult who is legally allowed to carry a concealed firearm, to do so without first having to obtain government permission. This ensures that citizens have the right to self-defense without government red tape or delays. Additionally, this legislation maintains the existing concealed handgun license system, so citizens who still wish to obtain a permit may do so.
The NRA thanks lead sponsor Mandi Ballinger and House Speaker Ralston for their support of HB 1358, and asks that the bill be heard on the floor, ASAP. Again, please contact your state representative and ask them to SUPPORT HB 1358.
