Tomorrow, the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee is scheduled to consider Senate Bill 422, legislation that would significantly increase the training requirements for obtaining a license to carry a firearm for self-defense. Having only recently repealed the Handgun Permit Review Board, SB 422 is proof that anti-gun lawmakers want to make it even harder for Maryland residents to obtain a carry permit. Please contact members of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee and ask them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 422.
Senate Bill 422 would require those who are obtaining, renewing or even possessing a Maryland carry permit to complete two new training classes on “situational awareness” and “competent handling of a firearm.” Further, each of these classes must be completed EVERY year that the permit is held.
