The Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee could soon consider Senate Bill 53. Please contact your Senator and politely urge them to SUPPORT Senate Bill 53.
Senate Bill 53, sponsored by Senator Kristina Roegner (R) seeks to amend section 2923.11 of the Revised Code to clarify that certain firearms are not “dangerous ordnance” and to declare an emergency. Specifically, Senate Bill 53 seeks to correct the drafting error made by the Legislative Services Commission in the final version of HB 228, which passed in late 2018. Senate Bill 53 includes an emergency clause, which means that it will become effective immediately upon being signed by the Governor rather than after the usual 90 days.
Senate Bill 53 is currently before the Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee and will be voted out of committee next week. Please contact your Senator asking them to support Senate Bill 53.
