On Thursday, February 7, the House Public Safety Committee is scheduled to consider constitutional carry legislation, House Bill 2597. This legislation was passed during the 2018 Legislative Session with overwhelming approval and placed on the desk of Governor Mary Fallin. Governor Fallin then broke her campaign pledge and vetoed this important self-defense legislation. Please contact committee members and strongly urge them to SUPPORT HB 2597.
House Bill 2597, would recognize the right of law-abiding Oklahoma residents to Keep and Bear Arms for self-defense in the manner he or she chooses. Self-defense situations are difficult, if not impossible, to anticipate. Accordingly, law-abiding adults’ right to defend themselves in such situations should not be conditioned by government-mandated time delays and taxes.
Governor Kevin Stitt has promised to sign this important self-defense legislation when it makes it to his desk in 2019. Again, please contact members of the House Public Safety Committee and urge them to SUPPORT House Bill 2597.
