Tomorrow and Thursday, the House Administration of Criminal Justice Committee is scheduled to consider three firearm-related bills. The committee will consider House Bill 602 tomorrow, and Senate Bill 402 and House Bill 277 on Thursday. Please contact committee members about the below outlined legislation.
House Bill 602 would allow for concealed handgun permit holders to carry a concealed firearm into any school, school campus, or school bus. House Bill 602 is scheduled to be considered tomorrow.
Senate Bill 402 would allow both volunteers with a valid concealed carry permit to serve churches or houses of worship as armed security. Further, this legislation defines training requirements for those churches whose insurance liability requires it.
House Bill 277 seeks to restrict the constitutional right of law-abiding adults aged 18 to 20 to acquire some of the most commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms for self-defense, target shooting, and hunting.
Again, please contact members of the House Administration of Criminal Justice Committee and urge them to SUPPORT House Bill 602 and Senate Bill 402, and to OPPOSE House Bill 277.
