This week, two House committees have scheduled hearings on both pro- and anti-gun bills. Those bills scheduled to be heard include:
House Bill 1542, sponsored by Rep. Brian Stone (R-Rockingham), will allow for law-abiding gun owners to carry a pistol or revolver on the grounds of any university or community college in the state.
House Bill 1749, sponsored by Representative J.R. Hoell, provides an enforcement mechanism for existing law that should help prevent a complex patchwork of gun regulations across the state which makes it difficult for responsible firearm owners to ensure that they are following the law.
House Bill 1566, sponsored by Rep. Delmar Burridge (D-Cheshire), will prohibit law-abiding gun owners from openly carrying firearms at many public places, including: doctor’s offices, restaurants, churches, or any public building in the state.
