This week, the Vermont General Assembly convenes its 2018 legislative session. As in 2017, we will see gun control advocates pushing for policies to restrict the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners. It is vital that gun owners and sportsmen across the Green Mountain State stay actively involved throughout 2018.
Anti-gun groups and legislators are aggressively pushing for "universal" background checks, which do nothing to improve public safety. Their agenda also includes dangerous legislation disguised as "domestic violence" prevention that does nothing more than weaken due process. Vermont is one of the safest states in the country and these efforts being led by out-of-state gun control groups are a solution in search of a problem.
