Today, the Illinois House defeated House Bill 4117 with a 48 to 54 vote. As written, HB 4117 mirrors federal legislation proposed by anti-gun Senator Dianne Feinstein. The bill would place a ban on many popular “trigger modification devices.” The broad and overreaching definition in HB 4117 could potentially ban firearm modifications such as competition triggers, muzzle brakes, and ergonomic changes that are commonly done by law-abiding gun owners to make their firearms more suitable for self-defense, competition, hunting, or even overcoming disability.
Thank you to the NRA members and Second Amendment supporters who contacted their state Representatives and urged them to oppose HB 4117.
The Illinois Legislature is currently convened for a veto session and several gun control bills, including gun and magazine bans, are scheduled for consideration. Please contact your state Representative and urge them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 1657, and House Bills 4107 and 4112.
