The Wisconsin Right-to-Carry bill continues to move through the legislature with the next likely step being a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 31st.
It is critical that there is a strong showing of support at the hearing, and we hope NRA members and supporters will attend. Once details are set for a hearing, we will be sure to provide specifics in hopes you can make it to Madison!
In the meantime, please continue to share our Wisconsin Right-to-Carry petition online:
This Right to Carry bill would allow for the concealed carry of a firearm without a concealed carry license anywhere in the state where an individual is legally allowed to carry a firearm. Additionally, SB 169 would expand the list of places where firearm owners can legally carry. SB 169 would also make the current concealed carry licensing system optional to allow citizens to obtain a license and take advantage of reciprocity agreements with other states.
Also of note, earlier this month, NRA-ILA staff hosted the first two of a series of Wisconsin Grassroots Action Meetings in Madison and Eau Claire. These meetings are great opportunities to build pro-gun networks, share resources, and have important discussions on what’s at stake for the Second Amendment in Wisconsin.
Stay tuned for information on additional upcoming events, including the next Grassroots Action Meeting in Green Bay. Your grassroots support is needed year-round as pro-gun bills are on the move in the legislature, and we continue to prepare for important 2018 elections.
