HB 559 would make a number of improvements to the Outdoor Heritage Act that was passed in 2015, including allowing the hunting of migratory birds on Sunday and adding public lands that are managed by the Wildlife Resources Commission to the areas where hunting on Sunday can take place. The current law allows only the hunting of deer, and only on privately owned property. NRA strongly supports HB 559.
An extra day in the field, especially on the weekend, would increase opportunities for individuals to experience hunting and would undoubtedly invigorate essential hunter recruitment and retention efforts -- key factors in preserving North Carolina’s hunting heritage for future generations to come.
