Today, the Alabama Senate passed Senate Bill 24, the constitutional/permitless carry bill with a 25-6 vote. SB 24 will now head to the House where it will likely be assigned to the House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee.
Time is of the essence! It is imperative that you begin contacting the members of the House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee in support of SB 24! Also, please tell Chairman Treadaway that this bill is important to law-abiding gun owners in Alabama and urge him to schedule SB 24 for a hearing as soon as possible! SB 24 would eliminate the requirement to obtain a permit in order to lawfully carry. This bill recognizes a law-abiding adult’s unconditional Right to Keep and Bear Arms for self-defense in the manner he or she chooses. Self-defense situations are difficult, if not impossible, to anticipate. Accordingly, a law-abiding adult’s right to defend himself or herself in such situations should not be conditioned by government-mandated time delays and taxes.
