Fairfax, Va.— The National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) today launched a $1 million media buy urging U.S. Senators in four states to oppose a filibuster and vote to confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court. One of the ads will air on television stations across Missouri beginning Tuesday, March 28.
“Right now, we don’t have a majority on the Supreme Court in support of our basic right to keep a gun in our home for self-protection," said Chris W. Cox, executive director of NRA-ILA.
"Judge Neil Gorsuch would strongly defend our constitutional rights, including the Second Amendment. It's critical that the U.S. Senate swiftly confirm Judge Gorsuch."
This ad campaign comes as many Senate Democrats are attempting to derail Gorsuch’s confirmation. Already, they have unjustifiably delayed the Senate Judiciary Committee vote for a week and threatened a filibuster. Missouri voters need to know where Senator McCaskill stands on this important issue.
"Missourians support their constitutional right to self-protection. Sen. McCaskill should oppose Chuck Schumer's filibuster efforts and vote to confirm Judge Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court," concluded Cox.
Ad script:
ANNCR: Claire McCaskill TALKS a good game on gun rights.
McCASKILL: I'm a Second Amendment advocate…I was raised in a hunting culture.
ANNCR: But McCaskill VOTED to put anti-gun justices on the Supreme Court, not once but TWICE. Now Claire McCaskill has another chance. And your freedom is on the line. Tell Sen. McCaskill: Don't let us down again. Vote to confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch.
