One of NRA-ILA’s top priorities this session, H. 3240, was given a Favorable Report by the full House Judiciary Committee yesterday, and will soon be considered by the full House of Representatives. Introduced by state Representative Alan Clemmons (R-107), H. 3240 would establish that South Carolina recognizes all valid Right-to-Carry (RTC) permits issued by other states. The bill was amended in Judiciary to clarify that the recognition of permits issued by other states applies only to those permitees who are at least 21 years old, unless they are members of the United States Armed Forces. Please contact your state Representative and urge them to SUPPORT H. 3240 without any amendments that would weaken its goal of establishing true RTC recognition in South Carolina.
Additionally, yesterday, H. 3429 was passed by the full House of Representatives on an overwhelming, bi-partisan vote of 98-3. H. 3429, also introduced by state Representative Clemmons, is NRA-ILA supported legislation that seeks to amend South Carolina’s bankruptcy laws and recognize the fundamental right to personal protection by ensuring citizens who have fallen on hard times, financially, will not be required to sell all of their firearms maintained for personal protection in order to satisfy their debts. H. 3429 allows for the retention of any firearms, provided the total value does not exceed $10,000.00. Please contact your state Senator and urge them to support this important reform when it is brought up for consideration in the future!
