With the 2017 North Dakota legislative session underway, we are happy to report these important pro-gun bills have been filed.
House Bill 1169, introduced by state Representative Rick Becker (R-7), would eliminate the requirement to obtain a permit in order to lawfully carry. This bill recognizes a law-abiding adult’s unconditional Right to Keep and Bear Arms for self-defense in the manner he or she chooses. HB 1169 will make the current permitting system optional to allow citizens to obtain permits and take advantage of reciprocity agreements with other states. House Bill 1205, introduced by state Representative Andrew Maragos (R-3), will allow nonprofits such as the Friends of the NRA to apply for charitable gaming permits. This will help them further their mission to raise money to support NRA programs.
Your NRA-ILA will continue to monitor these bills and will keep you informed as they move through the legislature.
