Today, the Vermont General Assembly began its 2017 Legislative Session. If the precursor to session is any indication, it's going to be a tough battle at the Statehouse this year. However, rest assured, the NRA will continue to fight any attack against your Second Amendment rights while continuing to help advance pro-gun and pro-hunting reforms in Montpelier.
Before the opening gavel even dropped, legislation was introduced which would implement so-called “universal” background checks in the form of Senate Bill 6. This aggressive action demonstrates that anti-gun legislators are determined to once again attack lawful gun owners in the Green Mountain State, despite being one of the safest states in the country. This is an unenforceable bill that will only burden law-abiding gun owners and do nothing to prevent crime or advance public safety.
Your NRA-ILA will continue to keep you updated on the status of legislation impacting your Second Amendment rights in Vermont. Be sure to check your email alerts and www.NRAILA.org as the session progresses.
