The US Forest Service is hosting an open house November 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Men’s Lounge at Clark Memorial Clubhouse located at 19th North 9th Street, Clarkdale. The purpose of the meeting is to provide information and answer questions regarding an environmental cleanup near Blowout Creek in the Verde Ranger District of Prescott National Forest.
The cleanup site has been used since 1952 to dispose of municipal, commercial and industrial solid wastes, and it has also been used for dispersed target shooting. The site, consisting of 45 acres will be closed to shooting, along with land adjacent to it of nearly 1,800 acres. The remaining 320,000 acres of forest lands within the Verde Ranger District will remain open to dispersed target shooting. A briefing paper on the cleanup project can be read here and the notice about the open house can be read here.
