While the South Carolina General Assembly is not currently in session, a special committee of state Senators will be holding public hearings throughout the state to discuss “gun issues” in South Carolina. The hearings will be held by the newly created Senate Gun Issues Special Committee, which will be chaired by state Senator Gerald Malloy (D-29). Also serving on the committee are Senators Chip Campsen (R-43), Chauncey Gregory (R-16), Greg Hembree (R-28), and Marlon Kimpson.
It is critical that NRA members and others who support our rights guaranteed under the Second Amendment show up to these hearings and express their opposition to any new gun laws that will do nothing to thwart violent criminals and will only affect law-abiding citizens. You can be sure that former New York City Mayor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg will use his anti-gun group, Everytown for Gun Safety, to promote these hearings as a vehicle to inspire the filing of countless bills designed to eradicate our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
There are four hearings scheduled so far. The first of these meetings is scheduled for next Thursday, September 15. Meeting details can be found below. The following three meetings are scheduled through the end of October and your NRA-ILA will be sure to inform you about these meetings closer to their scheduled dates.
