Last week, the North Carolina Senate Rules Committee amended House Bill 3, which originally sought to amend the North Carolina Constitution to establish certain standards regarding the use of eminent domain. While NRA has not taken a position on this aspect of H3, one of the provisions added to the bill, now referred to as the Omnibus Constitutional Amendments Bill, was NRA-supported language that seeks to amend the North Carolina Constitution to affirm that it is a right of the public to hunt, fish and harvest wildlife.
On Tuesday, the Senate passed H3 on a vote of 31-18, and the bill now awaits action in the House of Representatives. The bill is currently in the House Rules Committee, and time is rapidly running out on this year's session.
Please contact members of the House Rules Committee IMMEDIATELY, and urge them to pass H3 with NRA-supported language that affirms that it is a right of the public to hunt, fish and harvest wildlife. Please also contact your state Representative and urge them to support passage of H3 with the NRA-supported language.
Again, time is rapidly running out on this year's session, so it is critical that you act today!
