Yesterday, the New Hampshire Senate passed an amended version of emergency powers legislation, House Bill 512. The measure will now go to the House for expected concurrence.
HB 512 would prohibit the confiscation of firearms, ammunition, or firearms accessories during a state of emergency and provides specific penalties for law enforcement officers who violate this act. This bill aims to prevent gun confiscation, like the actions that occurred in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and protect lawful gun ownership and our fundamental right to self-defense in such situations.
Your NRA-ILA will continue to update on the status of this legislation as it moves through the New Hampshire General Court.
