The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has removed Board Order LF-02-15, a proposed rule change related to public use of department properties, from their meeting agenda for Wednesday, April 13. The language of the proposed rule change would have contradicted state law and would have been inconsistent and ambiguous in regards to current state statutes concerning the use of firearms on state property.
Your NRA-ILA has been working hard with DNR and Governor Walker’s office to remove the proposal from the agenda, but DNR still intends to consider this issue in the coming months. Rest assured, your NRA-ILA will continue to closely monitor this proposed rule change and will not allow DNR to impose rules that will impact the concealed or open carry laws of Wisconsin. While state statute supersedes administrative rules, your NRA will make sure that DNR’s rules do not contradict legislative intent.
Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for any further updates on this proposal.
