Yesterday, March 21, Governor Mike Pence (R) signed House Bill 1085 into law. HB 1085 requires a chief law enforcement officer (CLEO) to sign an application for the transfer of any item regulated under the National Firearms Act (NFA) within 15 days if the applicant is not prohibited by law from receiving it. By removing any possibility of personal bias and creating a statewide standard, HB 1085 protects the rights of law-abiding gun owners across The Hoosier State. HB 1085 passed the House of Representatives with an 87-8 vote and the Senate with a 45-5 vote.
House Bill 1085 will take effect on July 1, 2016
