Today, March 5, the West Virginia State Senate voted 23-11 to override Governor Earl Ray Tomblin’s veto of HB 4145, the permitless carry bill. The Senate’s action, the final step to ensuring the provisions of HB 4145 become law, came less than 24 hours after the West Virginia House of Delegates voted on Friday to override Tomblin’s veto by an overwhelming 64-33 vote.
House Bill 4145 will go into effect on June 5, 2016.
As previously reported, HB 4145 is important legislation that would recognize a law-abiding adult's fundamental right to carry a concealed weapon for self-defense without government-mandated taxes and permitting.
Please contact the legislators who voted to support your Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and thank them for their support. Your NRA-ILA would especially like to thank Speaker Tim Armstead, Delegate Saira Blair, Senator Bill Cole, Senator Craig Blair and Senator Charles Trump.
