This week, the Virginia General Assembly passed House Bill 1096, and it now goes to Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) for his consideration. Patroned by Delegate Michael Webert (R-18), HB 1096 would prohibit any state entity from adopting or enforcing any rule, regulation, policy, or administrative action governing the purchase, possession, transfer, ownership, carrying, storage, or transporting of firearms, ammunition, or components or combinations thereof unless expressly authorized by statute. The bill invalidates any such rule, regulation, policy, or administrative action adopted by a state entity prior to July 1, 2016.
This important legislation would allow Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) holders to carry into certain state-run buildings. HB 1096 will help protect the Second Amendment rights of Virginians, and your help is needed!
Please contact Governor McAuliffe and politely urge him to sign House Bill 1096 into law when it comes before him. Contact information for the Governor can be located here.
