Tomorrow, February 17, Senate Bill 14 is scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee. SB 14 is important legislation that would recognize a law-abiding gun owner’s ability to possess a concealed firearm in a vehicle without first obtaining a government-issued permit.
It is vital that you contact the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee TODAY and politely urge them to SUPPORT SB 14.
There are currently 25 states which already allow law-abiding citizens to carry a firearm in their vehicle for self-defense without a government-issued permit. If an individual can lawfully own and possess a firearm, they should not have restrictions placed on their ability to exercise their fundamental right to self-defense outside of their home and in their vehicle.
SB 14 passed out of the state Senate last year before it stalled in the state House of Representatives during the final hours of the 2015 regular legislative session. The primary opponents to the passage of SB 14 are a handful of Alabama sheriffs. It is imperative that you contact your Sheriff and respectfully urge him or her to support Senate Bill 14.
Once again, please contact the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee TODAY in support of Senate Bill 14.
