Two House Democrats have introduced legislation that would increase the federal excise tax on guns and rifles, and would also raise taxes on ammunition.The legislation, from Reps. Danny Davis, D-Ill., and Bill Pascrell, D-N.J., appears to be a reintroduction of plan they proposed in the last Congress. That bill would have roughly doubled the federal excise tax on guns and rifles to 20 percent, and would have imposed a 50 percent excise tax on ammunition.
