During the Missouri 2015 Legislative Session, Governor Jay Nixon (D) signed numerous budget bills that included budgetary line items relating to school safety and security measures. Along with active shooter training and other measures already in place, these items address the issue of creating a safer school environment by making Missouri more compliant with the NRA’s National School Shield Program.
NRA’s National School Shield program was created to prevent school violence as an NRA Education and Training Emergency Response Program. For more information on the NRA’s School Shield Program visit www.nraschoolshield.com.
Unfortunately, due to the use of rare legislative procedures and delays in a new subcommittee structure, many legislative provisions advocated by various interests, including NRA-supported legislation, were unable to progress before the session adjourned. Your NRA-ILA will continue to work hard to advance positive pro-gun legislation that will promote and protect your Second Amendment rights. Thank you to all of the NRA members and Second Amendment supporters who contacted their legislators in support of pro-gun legislation this session.
