Please contact your state Senator today and urge them to support LD 652!
The Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee recently voted 7-6 on a divided “ought not to pass” report on Legislative Document 652. LD 652 will now go to the full state Senate for consideration.
Sponsored by Senator Eric Brakey (R-Androscoggin), this NRA-backed “Constitutional/Permitless Carry” legislation would recognize the right of all residents of Maine who are not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing a firearm to carry concealed without obtaining a Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP). As previously reported, LD 652 would also leave the current carry permitting system intact for those who wish to participate in reciprocal concealed carry permit agreements when traveling to other states.
Legislative Document 652 is under attack by anti-gun extremists such as former New York City Mayor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg, who has been funneling tens of thousands of out-of-state dollars into Maine in an effort to defeat this measure. The time for action is now! Please contact your state Senator and urge him or her to support LD 652. Also, please continue to contact your state Representative and urge him or her to do the same. Please also sign this pledge TODAY to show your support for “Constitutional/Permitless Carry” and urge your family, friends and fellow Maine activists to do the same.
