Today, the Air Gun Reclassification Package passed the final vote in the Michigan legislature.
As previously reported, the Air Gun Reclassification Package is a group of bills, consisting of House Bills 4151, 4152, 4153, 4154, 4155, 4156 and Senate Bill 85, which makes changes to Michigan’s definition of a firearm to exclude devices that propel a projectile by air, gas or spring. Under current Michigan law, most air guns are classified as firearms, and, as such, are subject to the same onerous regulations for their purchase, possession and transfer, as firearms.
After unanimously passing the Senate floor vote today, HB 4154, HB 4155 and HB 4156 will now be sent back to the House of Representatives for concurrence. Once concurred, the entire Air Gun Reclassification Package will go to Governor Rick Snyder (R) for his signature.
Please contact Governor Rick Snyder today and politely urge him to sign the Air Gun Reclassification Package into law. To contact the Governor, call (517) 373-3400 or submit this online form.
