Senate Bill 433, authored and introduced by state Senator Jim Tomes (R-49) and sponsored by state Representative Jim Lucas (R-69), passed in the House Public Policy Committee and now goes to the House floor to await a vote. SB 433 would repeal the section of the Indiana statute that prohibits the possession, sale, receipt, or use of short-barreled shotguns. These firearms are legal under federal law and regulated by the National Firearms Act of 1934. SB 433 would simply bring Indiana in line with federal law. SB 433 was passed in the Senate by a 44 to 6 vote on February 3, 2015.
