The NRA on Monday will begin airing advertisements in Georgia trying to tether the former New York City mayor with Democratic Senate candidate Michelle Nunn, to whom Mr. Bloomberg has donated $5,200, the maximum amount allowed by an individual. The ad hits all the basics in the anti-Bloomberg genre: It mocks his wealth, alleged hypocrisy and “extreme gun control agenda.”
The NRA’s goal here is to impose the same sort of character assassination on Mr. Bloomberg that Democrats have spent this election cycle trying to deliver to the Koch brothers. Last month the NRA launched a TV ad campaign in Colorado that focused on Mr. Bloomberg but didn’t address any 2014 races.
