While the NRA continues to work on a number of issues during the North Carolina General Assembly's short session this year, one issue in particular needs your immediate action. Senate Bill 226, sponsored by state Senator Mike Woodard (D-22), would repeal a 1935 law that allowed firearm registration in Durham County. While it is unclear how much, if at all, this registration scheme is used, the fact remains that it needs to go. After speaking with the House Republican leadership this week, the NRA has been assured that S 226 will be considered in the near future, perhaps as early as next week.
Please contact your state Representative and respectfully urge him or her to support S 226. Also, please thank House Rules Chairman Tim Moore and House Speaker Thom Tillis for working so closely with the NRA on S 226.
