Yesterday, Assembly Bill 2006 passed in the New Jersey Assembly by a 46 to 31 vote. Sponsored by Assemblyman Louis Greenwald (D-6), A.2006 would further reduce the state’s magazine capacity restriction from 15 to 10 rounds.
As previously reported, the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee agenda for Monday has been released, and Senate Bill 993 is NOT included and will NOT be heard. Sponsored by state Senator Loretta Weinberg (D-37), S.993 seeks to arbitrarily restrict the maximum capacity of ammunition magazines from 15 to 10 rounds and ban many popular firearms.
While a Senate committee hearing for S.993 has not yet been scheduled, lawmakers are moving quickly to push this anti-gun legislation and send it to Governor Chris Christie. Please contact your state Senator TODAY and respectfully urge him or her to OPPOSE S.993. Contact information for your state Senator can be found here.
Your NRA-ILA will continue to provide any updated information pertaining to this legislation.
