Currently circulating in the Wisconsin Legislature is legislation that would allow residents of the Badger state to purchase a shotgun or rifle in non-contiguous states, provided that the purchase or transfer of the long gun complied with federal law and the laws of both states. Despite the fact that 42 states allow for the purchase of long guns in non-contiguous states, Wisconsin only allows for the purchase of long guns from states with which they share a border. Therefore, it is critical that you contact your state lawmakers and urge them to cosponsor this bill and end this unnecessary prohibition against long gun sales in non-neighboring states.
