Contact your state Senator TODAY in opposition to pending anti-gun measures
The Maine Joint Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee has been holding work sessions on numerous bills that, if passed and enacted into law, would severely restrict your Second Amendment rights. Three anti-gun bills are expected to be considered on the Senate floor as early as next week. We need you to contact your state Senator NOW in opposition to the following bills:
LD 265 repeals an important self-defense measure enacted in 2011, which prohibits an employer from banning an employee with a valid Permit to Carry Concealed Firearms from keeping a firearm in the employee's vehicle as long as the vehicle is locked and the firearm is not visible. It was given an unfavorable committee report by a 7-6 vote. It is important that you contact your state Senator NOW and respectfully ask him or her to accept the committee report for LD 265.
LD 267 criminalizes private transfers by mandating background investigations for all firearm transfers performed at gun shows. It was reported favorably out of committee by a 7-6 vote. Please contact your state Senator and respectfully ask him or her to reject the committee report for LD 267.
LD 1173 repeals an important self-defense measure that allows individuals who have obtained a Concealed Handgun Permit to carry a firearm in state parks and historic sites. It was reported favorable out of committee by a 7-6 vote. Please contact your state Senator and respectfully ask him or her to reject the committee report for LD 1173.
Your action is needed to stop this misguided and onerous gun control legislation before it is too late. Hold your state lawmakers accountable by asking how they plan to vote on these measures. Click here for help identifying your state Senator and his or her contact information.
