Today, NRA-supported House Bill 714 passed the North Carolina House of Representatives by an overwhelming 91-22 vote.
H 714, sponsored by state Representative Jacqueline Schaffer (R-105), seeks to eliminate the option of destroying lawful firearms that are in safe working condition that have been seized or otherwise recovered by law enforcement. H 714 would require the firearms be transferred to a law enforcement agency for official use, be sold at public auction to Federal Firearms License (FFL) holders, be maintained by the State Bureau of Investigation for training or experimental purposes, or be transferred to a museum or historical society.
This measure will now head to the state Senate to be assigned to a committee, but it is critical that you start contacting your state Senator in support of H 714.
