Contact Governor Sean Parnell and Respectfully Urge Him to Sign HB 24 into Law
House Bill 24, common sense self-defense reform legislation, passed in the state Senate yesterday by a 15-4 vote after receiving overwhelming approval by the House of Representatives in a 29-4 vote last month. HB 24 now goes to Governor Sean Parnell (R) for his consideration. Please call and e-mail Governor Parnell today and respectfully urge him to sign HB 24 into law.
Under existing state law, if a person is justified in using deadly force in self-defense, there is no duty-to-retreat if the person is in his or her home, business or on his or her own property. HB 24, introduced by state Representative Mark Neuman (R-10), would extend this protection so a person, if justified in using deadly force in self-defense, has no-duty-to-retreat from any place the person has a legal right to be.
Thank you for your continued efforts during this legislative session. Please call and e-mail the Governor today and urge him to sign this important reform into law!
