Palm Beach County on Tuesday officially wiped its local gun regulations off the books to comply with a state law pushed by the National Rifle Association. The Legislature long held that only the state, not cities and counties, had the right to regulate firearms. After the NRA complained about local governments imposing their own rules, the Legislature this year established $5,000 fines for local officials who tried to enforce local gun rules.
