FAIRFAX, VA – The National Rifle Association’s (NRA) new initiative, NRA Life of Duty presented by Brownells, proudly announces its partnership with the AR15.com/Rockcastle Pro-Am 3-Gun Championship, the largest 3-gun event in the United States. The match, presented by Brownells, Sinclair, Policestore.com and Hornady, takes place August 26-28, 2011 at Rockcastle Shooting Center in Park City, Kentucky. Five hundred competitors, split evenly between professionals and amateurs, will participate.
Money raised throughout the weekend will benefit the Lone Survivor and Task Force Dagger foundations. Pete Brownell, President of Brownells, the world’s largest supplier of firearms accessories, gun parts, gunsmithing tools and ammunition will be on hand to present a check to these charity organizations on behalf of NRA Life of Duty.
“There are no greater Americans than those who risk life and limb every day for our freedom. NRA is humbled to be a part of this event that supports families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and wounded warriors, as well as their families, through noble organizations such as the Lone Survivor and Task Force Dagger foundations,” said Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the National Rifle Association. “The four million members of the NRA are truly grateful to every man and woman in uniform for their service and sacrifice.”
While the AR15.com/Rockcastle 3-Gun Championship features separate shooting competitions for professionals and amateurs, the NRA Life of Duty Challenge will pair them together and tally their scores throughout the weekend to determine the Pro-Am champion. “The beauty of this event is we are teaming up professional shooters with amateurs, folks that are new to the shooting sports, in this inaugural NRA Life of Duty Challenge,” Nick Noble, CEO of Rockcastle Shooting Center, added.
NRA Life of Duty/Brownells will also field a five-man team consisting of Brownells Law Enforcement General Manager and former FBI Special Agent Steve Denny; Brownells Training Program Manager and former Marine Major and Aviator Duane Liptak; former Sergeant First Class Greg Stube; Lieutenant Colonel James H. Nance; and former Master Sergeant George Harris to participate in the Shooting Industry Masters on July 22-23, which furthers both NRA Life of Duty’s and Brownells’ commitment to the shooting sports community.
