Three pro-gun bills are moving in the Maine Legislature and could be heard as early as next week in the state House. Legislative Document 35 is employee protection legislation, Legislative Document 932 would allow for the concealed carry of a firearm in the State House, and Legislative Document 1347 would expand the right-to-carry. Introduced by state Representative Richard Cebra (R-Naples), Legislative Document 35 would prohibit an employer from banning an employee with a valid concealed firearms permit from keeping a firearm in the employee's vehicle as long as the vehicle is locked and the firearm is not visible. This legislation would protect your right to keep a firearm in your car for self-defense, hunting, or target shooting before or after work.
Legislative Document 932, introduced by state Representative Dale Crafts (R-Lisbon), would allow a person with a valid concealed carry permit to carry a concealed firearm in the State House.
Legislative Document 1347, also introduced by Representative Cebra, would eliminate the prohibition on concealed carry permit holders carrying a concealed firearm in state parks and historic sites, premises licensed for the consumption of alcohol, and state property under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Safety and the Legislative Council.
