Yesterday, the Georgia General Assembly adjourned. Unfortunately, Senate Bill 26, emergency powers legislation, is dead for this legislative session.
Sponsored by state Senator David Shafer (R-48), SB 26 would have protected our Second Amendment rights by prohibiting any government agency from confiscating or regulating the lawful sale, possession, transfer, transport and carry of firearms during a state of emergency, such as occurred in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
Thank you to everyone who contacted their legislators in support of SB 26.
